***Stay Tuned for New Music!***
Stacey Darcelin, also known as Stacey Star, is an aspiring pop star from New Jersey. From a young age, Stacey had shown a particular interest in the arts, starting to sing as early as the age of 4. Stacey grew up idolizing many performers, and found inspiration through their numerous works, with an example of this being Beyoncé’s music video for her song “Check On It”. After watching that music video, Stacey knew that performing for an audience was something that she’d want to do for the rest of her life. She admired the attitude of many of her idols, who have influenced the development of the pop star attitude she’d carry herself with today. She found comfort in these methods of expression, doing things like singing at her summer camp for her peers, and picking up dancing for 8 years. When Stacey entered middle school, she sought different ways to get her name out there. She eventually found a video sharing website where anybody could share anything they wanted – Youtube. Stacey had uploaded various covers onto her youtube channel, expressing her love for the performing arts in front of a new audience known as the internet.
Eventually, Stacey searched for other ways to enter the industry. This led her to audition for numerous commercials and tv spots, one of which being a Goldfish commercial. Unfortunately, she was not chosen for the spot. This greatly confused and upset her, as she had faced for the first time something that she’d eventually learn she’d have to get used to: Rejection. Though crushing, Stacey did not let one bump in the road stop her from growing her love for performing. She found a way to apply her talents in her school, auditioning and performing in numerous musicals where she would sing, act, and entertain- everything she’s ever dreamed of doing. Finding love in performing in her school, she joined the choir, and performed in 2 talent shows. As time went on, Stacey had once again tried entering the entertainment industry, auditioning for a number of different tv spots and commercials, most notably the “Shake It Up Dance Challenge” that was going on at the time. Through these numerous auditions, she found that she was gathering experience in the field she loved from an early age.
Stacey found the transition from middle school to high school especially difficult. She found it hard to make friends and talk to people in this new foreign environment. She wasn’t sure how to adjust to this new way of life, and felt lost. Despite this, she maintained her pop-star attitude, not letting anything waiver her dedication to fulfilling her dreams. She quickly looked for any way to immerse herself into the arts, enrolling in her high school’s jazz band, cheerleading squad, and acapella choir, excelling her talent so greatly that she had made it into her choir’s honors class. Going through high school, she found many outlets to express herself, performing in any talent show she could, and drawing a crowd to any one of the numerous coffee house performances she’d have. She’d eventually found a way to break out of her shell, making many memorable friends that would aid her in her growth as a person.
Through the friends and memories Stacey had made through high school, She found her love for music growing more and more. Leaving High school, she realized that she can pursue a higher education in doing what she loves, and applied to Albright college. As the new year came around, Stacey was excited for the new possibilities that the new year would bring. However, tragedy struck early in the year, as her grandfather, who was her biggest supporter, had passed away. Since then, she’d decided that she’d never give up on becoming the artist that her grandfather knew she could be. Stacey is currently still making cover videos and posting them to her instagram, and is working on releasing original music soon.
