Bree is a rapper, producer, and performer from Chester, Pennsylvania. A lively, close knit little city just outside of south Philadelphia. Coming from humble beginnings, she lives in a small townhouse with her mother and two older sisters. She always had a love for music, playing multiple instruments growing up from the recorder, the trumpet, and piano. It’s safe to say she was very fond of the fine arts. As a child she really enjoyed dancing as well as watching live music performances and music videos.
However, what really pushed her on a music path was her father, since he couldn’t live to fulfill his own music dreams. When he passed away, her mother had to take on the role of the provider and leave Bree and her siblings to watch over each other. Her oldest sister became the head of the house when their mother was at work, and the main supporter of her dreams. Unfortunately, her sister could only have her back at home.
Throughout Bree’s childhood years she was bullied for her skin tone, hair texture, and features. This drained her self-esteem and confidence making her feel alienated and alone. Without having her mother’s emotional support or her older sister’s consistent guidance, this made her question her value. That’s when she realized that she had to have her own back in order to get by if no one else would. She taught herself to love her appearance, her nationality, and to keep her head up when things were bad. She does not see a point in wallowing in the negative when things are looking rough, she believes that keeping a positive mindset can turn things around and can even give a sense of self empowerment.
Bree says, whenever she makes music, she feels empowered to do anything. Like the world is at her fingertips when writing a rap or making a beat, and when performing, she feels a rush through her body by creating whatever she wants however she wants. Most importantly, she has fun when she’s doing it.
This is the kind of message and energy Bree likes to portray in her music, to boost her own self esteem and her listeners. She wants her listeners to know that if they are going through something; or if they are feeling alone that she has been there, and to not let whatever they are experiencing keep them down. Bree likes to teach self love and self improvement through her music without criticizing. She encourages her audience to do better and have a good time doing it. All while hoping her music will motivate and inspire people to be the best version of themselves. Especially her female listeners, the females who have been or are experiencing self esteem issues.
