CHECK BACK FOR THE SINGLE, "WATERFALL"
Khali Moon: jack of all trades, master of all- especially rap. Born Romeo Elisha Simonds in Annapolis, MD this upcoming artist is far from average. His charismatic flow and energetic performances has led to comparisons being drawn to Logic and Kendrick Lamar. Some have even gone as far as to say that his music is revolutionary and game-changing. Whether you agree or not is entirely up for debate. What’s not for debate is the bright future he has ahead of him; unfortunately, his early years weren’t too bright.
At an early age Romeo began his battle against depression. His father was absent from his life completely so his mother raised him single-handedly. The little bit of a father-figure whom he could look up to was his step-father, but he too was absent much of the time as he served overseas in the military. This forced Romeo to grow up and mature more quickly than others, because he now needed to be a father figure for his younger brother who was diagnosed with autism. With no room to be weak he gathered strength from God, who eventually led him to music: his outlet.
Once Romeo turned to music he decided to only speak his truth, unlike many artists. He wanted every bar that echoed out of his mouth to be raw, which is why he was originally going by the name of Xplicit (explicit). By turning to music and speaking his truth his life began to do a 180, even though it was just the beginning. Romeo was able to find himself spiritually and goes as far as to say that music saved his life. Now that he found himself, a phoenix emerged and that phoenix’s name is Khali Moon.
Khali Moon means “black and white”, which originates from him being bi-racial, but it has evolved to symbolize today’s society that consists of two extreme parties. His mission is to be the gray area that’ll unite them both, impact the youth through rap and create music that’ll strive to connect and bring people closer together. He firmly states that he doesn’t create music for money or fame, but to help those who come from troubled beginnings like him find a way and change peoples’ lives for the better.
Khali Moon draws inspiration from Lecrae, Drake, J. Cole, Kendrick Lamar and Chris Brown to create his unique flow and delivery. He has collaborated with many other artists who share similar goals within music like AlexanderFuse, De’Shaun, Constant, and Thralonnie.
After completely doing a 180 with his life Khali Moon has found a liking for many things other than music. He enjoys fishing, watching movies and going for long car rides. When asked if he feels like he has achieved his goal of impacting people’s lives he claims that his mission isn’t finished until he has impacted every single person coming from humble beginnings like him with his music.
Khali Moon is an artist to definitely keep an eye on. His increasing popularity and outreach towards the community has people talking, and even through all of the trials and tribulations he’s been through he keeps a smile on his face and remains humble and positive.
